Urban Canvas Mural Festival

Urban Canvas Mural Festival Melbourne – 17-30/04/23 – Event

40+ Artists
6 Councils

Urban Canvas is a festival of mural creation and installation that will involve more than 40 artists. The goal – 30 large scale murals painted over 6 different councils on Wurundjeri & Bunurong Country that will act as a graffiti deterrent.

The 6 participating local government areas are Bayside, Kingston, Port Phillip, Glen Eira, Boroondara and Stonnington who together make up the Inner South Metro Mayors Forum (ISMMF).

The 14-day festival is an initiative developed and funded through the Victorian State Government Graffiti Pilot Program, and aims to explore creative and artistic ways to deter and mitigate illegal graffiti on third-party assets.

“A mural festival, curated to engage artists and art organisations based in Melbourne, to create large scale public artworks and activations that inspire and engage the community in a meaningful way, while exploring creative and innovative paths to deter and mitigate illegal Graffiti on third party assets throughout all six council areas.”
