Ling – The Allure of Gold – 05/08/22 – Exhibition
The Allure of Gold is the long-awaited exhibition of an extensive six-year urban art project by renowned Melbourne artist LING.
Painted from compositional extracts of p1xels’ expert documentation. LING’s highly-textured brush strokes and rich colour palette tell the story of ‘The Allure of Gold’.
Conceived walking through the freight yards at Tottenham, LING and his friends noticed the millions of dollars’ worth of dead carriages. These deadsets had been there as long as they remembered, slowly rotting away whilst rail freight continues to be in heavy use.

LING exposes society’s relationship with material possessions by entirely coating seemingly worthless items in gold, thus creating an immediate and striking contrast.
